MINNEAPOLIS CHESS
We use chess to teach problem solving skills to young students. Students who are proficient in chess have fewer behavioral problems in school and have better academic performance.
We teach chess in Minneapolis Public, Parochial and Charter schools--- in classrooms, after school chess clubs, and through extracurricular chess tournaments. Most clubs meet weekly and participate in tournaments bi-weekly.
We staff a drop-in chess center weekly in near north Minneapolis, and we also have a program at the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention center.
